AUSTIN, TX (July 7, 2016) – Today, Tango Health announced that it successfully guided all of its clients in meeting a key IRS filing deadline for new employee health care reporting requirements under the Affordable Care Act (ACA).
The submissions for clients covered 2.5 million individuals with health coverage provided by employers ranging from mid-market companies to Fortune 500 corporations, along with higher education institutions, state governments and large municipalities.
“The intricacies and complexity of the ACA have become compliance roadblocks for many employers,” said Todd Praisner, CEO of Tango Health. “Partnering with our clients, we were able to ensure that they all met the deadline, averting potentially stiff financial penalties. Even clients who came to us at the last minute – late in the first quarter – were able to take advantage of our solutions and make their electronic filings on time and in good order.”
The IRS required that all employers submit their data to the IRS by June 30, 2016, using the newly created Form 1094-C, via an electronic filing.
“We chose Tango because we wanted as much support through the ACA-IRS filing process as possible,” said Debbie Haynes, Senior Manager of Global Benefits & Mobility, Viavi Solutions. “As difficult as it was, Tango handled the entire process with skill, precision, and efficiency. Their leadership was very strong. We couldn’t have done it as efficiently without them.”
Tango’s tax filings on behalf of clients are backed up by a dedicated system of record with fully auditable calculations, which the company will use to support employers in future IRS inquiries and exchanges.
Many employers were stymied when they tried to manage the data collection and filing on their own, or when they selected a vendor that required the employers to obtain their own IRS reporting credentials.
“Even companies that pride themselves on their own HR systems for employee tracking found they needed an outside partner that is accountable, knowledgeable, and certified to file electronically through the IRS’ highly technical system,” Praisner said.
Tango continued to field calls from clients and non-clients alike throughout all phases of the extended tax season. Many are already looking ahead to next year by improving their databases and software applications and seeking expertise as necessary.
